GROVER ZAMPA VINEYARDS

A pioneer in winemaking in India producing premium, award-winning wines for three generations.

With three generations of winemaking experience, Grover Zampa Vineyards is one of the oldest wineries and a distinguished producer of premium wines in India. The company’s 410-acre vineyard is situated at the foothills of the picturesque Nandi Hills in Doddaballapura, roughly 47 km from MG road in Bangalore.

With a rich history, tranquil surroundings, and beautiful vistas, Grover Zampa Vineyards offers a unique location to experience Indian wine.  Wine tours here include a visit to the vineyard, a guided tour of the winemaking process and tasting by a sommelier followed by lunch.

Birdwatchers can carry a pair of binoculars to spot the spectacular Asian Paradise Flycatchers, Bulbuls, Blue Capped Rock Thrush, Tawny Eagles, and Puff-Throated Babblers the region is famous for.

Their visitor center pays an ode to the company’s flagship wine brand La Réserve. It houses a:

  • Tasting Room, Cave de La Réserve, where an in-house sommelier will take you through a guided wine tasting

  • Restaurant, Lounge de La Réserve, overlooking a Koi pond that will soon serve Indian and Continental dishes all through the day, along with suggested wine pairings

  • Cellar door, Boutique de La Réserve, where you can buy some of their wines before you leave

The story of Grover wines begins with a unique friendship between Kanwal Grover, the company’s founder and a businessman (also known as the father of Indian viticulture), and George Vesselle, former Technical Director of Champagne Mumm Vineyard in France. Together they traveled the country to find the ideal location and settled on Nandi Hills in Bangalore, where they planted the first vines in 1988. Today, Nandi Valley is recognized as a rich wine-producing region in India.
